1. Assessment & Preparation
The process begins with a thorough inspection of the natural stone surface to identify its type, condition, any existing damage, stains, or areas that require special attention. The area surrounding the stone surface is prepared by protecting adjacent surfaces or areas that are not meant to be treated. Furniture or objects on or near the surface may be moved to facilitate the cleaning process.
2. Dust Removal & Cleaning
Dry methods such as dusting, vacuuming, or sweeping are employed to remove loose dirt, debris, or dust from the surface and crevices. We use specialized stone-safe cleaning solutions appropriate for the type of natural stone. They apply these solutions using suitable equipment like brushes, pads, or buffers to gently clean the surface, removing embedded dirt, stains, or residues.
3. Rinsing & Drying
After cleaning, the surface is thoroughly rinsed to remove any remaining cleaning solutions and residues, ensuring a clean and residue-free surface. Then, the surface is dried completely to prepare it for the sealing process. This step is crucial as moisture can interfere with the effectiveness of the sealing agent.
4. Sealing
A suitable stone sealer is applied to the clean and dry surface. The type of sealer used depends on the specific stone type (marble, granite, limestone, etc.) and its porosity. The sealer is evenly applied and allowed to penetrate the stone, creating a protective barrier against stains and moisture.
5. Polishing
For surfaces requiring polishing or honing, professionals use specialized equipment and techniques to achieve the desired finish. This step can involve abrasive materials, pads, or polishing compounds to restore the stone’s natural shine and smoothness.
6. Final Inspection / Walk Through
Once the sealing and polishing processes are complete, a final inspection is carried out to ensure the desired results have been achieved. Any touch-ups or additional treatments may be applied if necessary.
